The tanker market is soaring amid escalating geopolitical tensions in the Gulf, with VLCC earnings reaching unprecedented levels of USD 554,170/day, boosted by recent attacks and reduced shipping capacity. This intense demand is driving newbuilding prices lower than second-hand premiums, with new VLCCs priced 34 per cent below resale values. In the dry bulk segment, asset values are experiencing robust growth, particularly for Kamsarmaxes, which have risen by 27 per cent, supported by rising earnings and demand for larger ships. Overall, while geopolitical uncertainties loom, the shipping market is thriving across various sectors, with renewed activity and rising newbuilding prices indicating strong future prospects.
