The dry bulk market displayed mixed signals this week, with Capesize earnings fluctuating amid limited activity and ultimately settling at USD 41,288, reflecting a modest increase. While the Pacific markets showed signs of stabilization, the Atlantic remained subdued, particularly in the Panamax segment, where the P5TC fell to USD 18,928 on ample tonnage. In contrast, the Supramax market demonstrated resilience with the 11TC averaging USD 20,728, driven by steady demand in both the Atlantic and Pacific regions. Levels in the Handysize segment also improved marginally, indicating potential support from tightened availability in key regions, particularly in Asia and the South Atlantic. China's bauxite imports surged significantly, raising questions about future aluminum production capabilities, especially with Guinea's evolving export controls. Amid geopolitical tensions affecting trade routes, these dynamics could heavily influence overall market sentiment going forward.
