The Capesize market showed robust gains this week, with the BCI 5TC increasing from USD 39,078 to USD 42,214 amid strong miner demand, particularly in the Pacific. The Panamax segment rallied as well, with the P5TC rising from USD 19,117 to USD 19,990, driven by tight tonnage and strong inquiry for grain and mineral cargoes from South America. Conversely, the Handysize market remained under pressure, with the BHSI declining to 917, reflecting soft demand across most regions. Aluminum price fluctuations, impacted by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, showed volatility as supply constraints from GCC countries brought the LME to a peak of USD 3,700 per Mn T before corrections. The ongoing geopolitical climate continues to influence supply chains and pricing dynamics across the commodities sector.
