The dry bulk fleet registered a growth of 2.4 per cent in 2026, continuing the trend seen in previous years despite an ageing fleet, with 3733 units over 20 years of age, representing 15.3 per cent of the total. The orderbook currently comprises 1422 vessels or 11.5 per cent of the fleet, with 326 deliveries recorded this year and 232 more expected, marking the highest annual influx since 2015. However, newbuilding orders have significantly decreased, down 41 per cent year-on-year in 2025, indicating a cautious market outlook amidst high newbuilding prices and low demolition rates.
