The dry bulk market in the WCSA experienced a slow start to the week due to public holidays in several South American countries, with activity only picking up midweek. ECSA cargoes continued to absorb available tonnage, though the rates softened amid a growing tonnage list, particularly in the Handysize segment. Unless the rise in tonnage is met with increased cargo volumes, rates could face further downward pressure. Congestion is slowing operations, particularly in the Panama Canal, and at Puerto Quetzal, affecting shipping timelines.
